First International Student; Author of Korean National Anthem
Yun Ch'i-Ho's graduation from Emory College in 1893 made history. The native of Korea was Emory's first international graduate.
A diplomat, educator, journalist, patriot, and Christian statesman, Yun played a major role in founding the Methodist church in his native land. His poem, Aegukka, forms the words to the national anthem of the Republic of Korea.
Several of Yun's descendants are Emory graduates, including Hena Chun 08Ox 10C, his great-great granddaughter.
