Jane E. Smith
President and CEO, National Council of Negro Women
Since 2004, Jane E. Smith has served as executive director of Spelman College's Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement.
The position is just the latest in Smith's decades-long career in education and nonprofit management. Since earning a master's in sociology at Emory and eventually a doctorate in education, Smith has held leadership roles in a variety of organizations, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, INROADS, and The Carter Center.
Previously, she served as president and CEO of the National Council of Negro Women and CEO of Business and Professional Women/USA.
