Neal Bond FlemingBeginning in 1966, Neal Bond Fleming served as dean of Oxford College of Emory University and led a decade of growth on the campus, adding a new library and athletic facilities and renovating the student center.

He also worked to put Oxford on solid financial footing and to strengthen its ties to the rest of Emory. He coined the term "continuees" to designate the Oxford graduates who move on to Emory College to complete their bachelor's degrees.

He established the Oxford Board of Counselors and attended its meetings for 37 years. After his retirement, Fleming and his wife, Mary Louise, remained in Oxford and continued to be active participants in the life of the college and community.

An ordained Methodist minister, Fleming founded the Oxford Historical Shrine Society and worked tirelessly to raise funds to restore Old Church. He died in June 2009 at age 99.
