Dooley with Pres. Carter

Who is Dooley?

James W. Dooley safeguards the official Spirit of Emory.

Borrowing his first name and middle initial from the current university president, Dooley takes the form of a biology lab skeleton wearing a cape, top hat and gloves. He makes appearances at annual campus events such as President Carter's town hall for first-year students as well as during a week in his honor in the spring.

The Dooley tradition dates from the 1800s.
